Finals are Here… Help, I’m Not Ready!
by Kelley Amrein | Dec 2, 2017
Finals can’t help but get in the way of feeling cheerful right now. How can a series of exams seemingly created to make you nuts put you in a good mood, even if the holidays are right around the corner? Once you make it through finals, you know it’s not really over. Eventually, you’ll get your grades, and if you aren’t happy with those, then the holiday break could be pretty much shot, especially if and when your parents find out you didn’t do as well as you’d hoped in your classes.
EFT has a magical way of relaxing your system so you can study better and more easily cope with exams. EFT won’t help you learn the material. If you haven’t been to class, there’s not much we can do with a tapping script. But if you’ve been in class, taken decent notes, done most of the readings, and stayed awake during lectures, EFT can help your brain relax so you can remember the important facts and figures you need to ace that exam. And remember, EFT helps with all kinds of test stress, even if you aren’t in college.
Try this tapping script and add in your own words as you go. Release the stress and open your neural pathways to receive the information you need to do your best during finals.
Before you begin tapping, determine your level of distress by rating your emotions on a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being no big deal and 10 being about the worst you can feel. The first number that pops into your head is the one to go with. Make a note of that number and start tapping.
KC: Even though I’m feeling anxious because I have finals soon and I’m not ready… I’m not even sure how I’ll be ready because I have so much to study… I’m open to releasing the anxiousness and doing well on my exams. (repeat three times)
EB: I’m feeling anxious because finals will be here soon
SE: I’m not ready for my exams
UE: There’s so much to do… and not enough time to get it done
UN: I feel anxious when I think about getting it all done
CP: I’m not sure I’ll be ready because I have so much to study
CB: Feeling anxious about finals
UA: I have so much to do and I don’t know how I’ll get it done
TH: I’m feeling so anxious about finals… wondering how I’ll get it done
EB: I’m pretty sure this stress isn’t helping me study
SE: I’m open to releasing these anxious feelings
UE: I still have so much to do, but I think it might be easier if I am more relaxed
UN: Still feeling anxious when I think about getting it all done
CP: But I’m open to releasing my stress… my anxious feelings
CB: I have so much to do and I don’t know how I’ll get it all done
UA: But I’m open to letting some of this stress go
TH: I’m feeling anxious about finals but I’m open to releasing the anxiousness and doing well on my exams
Keep tapping on the points and add any thoughts or emotions that surface as you tap. If you feel any physical sensations, add those into your tapping, too. Once you’ve tapped through the points a time or two, pause and check where your level of distress is. Continue tapping until you feel a lessening of the intensity of your emotions. Shoot to reduce your distress to a 2 or below.
Remember, it’s not important to do tapping ‘right.’ What is important is to get the emotions and sensations out so they can’t hold you back any longer.
Good luck with finals!
